As we celebrate this Pioneer Day today, it offers us an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have gone before.
We live in a place and time that has been shaped and blessed by those who put the dream of a better future above that of the luxuries of the time that they lived in. These pioneers thought not just of themselves, but of their children and posterity that would come after them. They wanted to prepare a place that would create a legacy for many future generations to come.
Now as we benefit from their great sacrifices, will we seek to enjoy the relative luxury and ease that their efforts have granted to us, and not seek to continue the legacy that they left for us? Will our casualness with regard to that legacy allow it to pass to future generations, or will it slip through our fingers and leave our posterity with a future that offers less opportunity than we have been blessed with?
Pioneer day is as much about remembering the past as it is for us to realize how we are pioneers for future generations. We like them must be “Those Who Go Before”, we must clear the trails and paths, open the metaphorical farm land for those who come after us to have an opportunity to grow and plant in a land of liberty. To this end it is our responsibility to be ever vigilant to prevent the loss of liberty, however noble the cause. As Benjamin Franklin Said:
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
So with this celebration of the pioneering spirit, and the relative prosperity that it has blessed us with, let us commit this day to be “One Who Goes Before” and prepare the way so that those generations that follow after us will celebrate and remember our efforts in the same manner that we remember those of previous generations that gave so much to us.

Last week I had the great opportunity to address a group of citizens in Vernal Utah, along with my fellow candidates, Scott Bradley and Daniel Ray. It was a great evening of discussing principes and concepts and how they relate to each of us.
Many new supporters attended, asked questions and shared their feelings about the current direction of our Federal Government and how to make an impact as an individual.
It was a fantastic event and I look forward to the next visit to that great part of the State.
Read More >>This last weekend was a great flurry of activity, We started out Friday morning on K-talk’s Mills Crenshaw show. There were lots of great callers and questions.
After the radio show we had a Buy Your Own Lunch event at Zupa’s in Draper. Then we headed off to Vernal for a Candidate Forum. There are some great people out in Vernal, it was a fantastic event.
The next morning we wer back in Salt Lake City for the Constitution Party County Convention. I addressed the convention and received lots of positive feedback and garnered a good number of volunteers for the campaign.
That afternoon I attended the Utah County Convention in Pleasant Grove, it was well attended and I was given the opportunity to share Patrick Henry’s Give me Liberty or Give me Death speech. This event was great as well.
What a marvelous opportunity to get out and meet lots of interested, and engaged voters.
In the wake of the Health Care Reform bill passing the House of Representatives by a vote of 219 to 212, one must ponder the thought, how did we get here? Given the millions of individuals across the political spectrum opposed to this legislation I wonder, how could our Representatives vote for this? With a federal system established with great care by its founders with its systems of checks and balances, to protect the rights of the people, how could our government be so out of control and trample our Constitution in this manner?
Tonight people across the state of Utah will be participating in a ritual that is at the heart of representative government. You have the opportunity and responsibility to attend your local neighborhood caucus meetings and participate in the elective process.
This is the start of having your voices heard in the November Elections. Many decisions are made through the caucus and convention process that determine the choices that you have available in November. Currently the election field is wide with choices to be your future representatives at the Local, State, and National Levels. By attending your caucus and getting involved in your County and State conventions you will help determine who will remain for the November election.
I am grateful to be running alongside of so many good candidates, wether they be Republicans, Democrats or Independents. This is a fortunate problem for the people to have. And it is necessary for us to have the BEST choices available when we get to the November elections, so that we can raise the level of this debate and discussion. This election is not so much about me as a candidate but rather about you as an individual. We must ultimately find the best individual to represent you and to uphold the constitution when they are in office.
So I urge you to attend your caucus meetings tonight, wether you belong to the Constitution, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Socialist, or some other party. If you are Independent or Unaffiliated I similarly urge you to attend some other parties caucus meeting, to see how the process works and to be engaged with your neighbors politically. We must all be involved in these elective activities, It widens the debate and ensures that we have individuals in office that truly represent the people.

To lead it takes courage. To lead it takes faith. To lead it takes one with vision. To lead it takes one to stand up and be a voice for the silent majority of freedom loving Americans whose blood, sweat, and tears have sealed the immortal words of our founding documents to an everlasting hope. A hope that our future will continue to be filled with freedom, life, and abundance. This future is what I see when I clasp hands with a man as brave as Mr. Randall Hinton. I hope that you too can see the vision and support Randall Hinton in his run, not just a walk or a jog, to the Halls of Congress.
